On July 4th (suitably for America) I contacted the Cultural Development Division in Worcester Massachusetts with a proposal for a Twin City Project ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ (Dickens won’t mind and besides there is no copyright on titles).
I then contacted Robert Gill at the Worcester County Poetry Society. In August I sent a proposal to the Board of Directors, it was voted on in the Autumn meeting. Fast forward to December and the AToTC project has been given the go ahead.
The idea behind the AToTC project is to link Transatlantic Poets from both cities of Worcester. For our side of the project I am asking local members of the Poetry Society to register an interest and will also accept registration from any poets involved in the Worcestershire scene, as I know many of us do not live in the city. For many of us the city holds a dear place in our hearts.

I am hoping in the next month or so to receive a list of participants from America to twin you all up. The exact number as yet is not known. There may be some mathematics involved!
The AToTC project is a ‘call & response’. You will be buddy up via email with a poet from Worcester MA and each send an unpublished poem of your choosing. The second poem will come from your response to the poem you receive.

Each pairing will produce 4 poems and these will all be published in a special AToTC issue of Contour (the digital WPL magazine).
In addition to this, poets are also encouraged to write an extra poem inspired by your city. Which means each pairing has the potential of producing 6 poems.

This would be in the world of continual boundaries, a great way to unite through poetry.
To register an interest in this project please email worcspl[at]gmail[dot]com with TALE in the subject line.
